Spring Break!

Has come and gone... but it was a lot of fun to spend so much time with Alden!  We knocked out a few home projects and did quite a bit of running around.  Alden was a trouper through it all.

Mommy wanted to prove that I do indeed have ONE, cute chin.
Big boy for 2 minutes in the Target cart.

We met Daddy for lunch one day!
Lots of talking and cooing.

All bundled up to help Mommy prep the garden.

Playdate with Bryn. there's room for two with this toy!

Gorgeous weather calls for some front porch sitting!  And a little natural Vitamin D!

My first Easter!  The Easter Bunny came!!

4 Months and Counting....

Today, Saturday March 30, marks 4 months for Alden.  It's hard to believe that much time has gone by, but we're enjoying each new thing Alden can do.  His 4 mo check-up is Monday, so I'll post later how big he is exactly, but take it from me: he's big.  And absolutely adorable. :-)

What fun will we have today?!
Are you sure this is right, Mommy?

My coo will melt anyone's heart and if that doesn't happen, my eyes will steal it.

Alden's Firsts This Month:
- Started Cloth Diapers
- Got a new high chair and loves it
- Started sleeping 11-12 hours straight
- Long trip (PA to visit Greg's side of the family)
- Met his second cousins
- Graduated to the Ergo baby carrier
- Spring Break with Mommy
- First Easter
- First Easter Egg hunt
- Has Mommy worried about teething....  :-)

St. Patrick's Day

I forgot about this picture and just discovered it.  So here's our St. Patrick's Day picture with Greg's grandma who was born in Northern Ireland (where, unfortunately for us and this holiday, they consider themselves English).

Almost 4 Months!

Taking a picture a day is a lot harder than I thought it was, and I thought it was going to be tough.  I'm going to resolve to be okay with a picture or two a week.  I think that by the time we hit 1 year we're going to have too many pictures to deal with anyway!!  Here's some from last week-today.

Alden finally fits in a cute little jacket made by his great aunt. He was pretty excited about it too. :-)

It is obvious to everyone who this baby favors...

This is Alden working hard to get his toy. I eventually put his hand on it and then with some wide misses to warm him up, he finally got the giraffe head in his mouth. Then he was too pleased to actually naw on it. haha.

We decided to get out in the nice weather this past weekend and try out our baby carrier.  I loved it, and Alden seemed to be comfy because he slept the whole time!

I tucked this little bunny (dog?) under his arm today and he held onto it tight.  First he just chewed on his hand but then he discovered the stuffed animal/blanket and chewed on it.  I think this kid is teething.  I'm nervous.

Visiting Family in Pennsylvania

We drove up to PA with Alden this past week to visit his great-grandmother Emily Meyers.  Grandma Meyers turns 90 this week and we went up to celebrate her blessed years with the family.

We got to stay with Greg's Aunt Nan and allow Alden to get some sleep before the festivities began.  Emily joined us right before bedtime and got to win some smiles from Alden.  :-)  Nothing quite like watching your sibling adore your kid... just check out Greg's face!

We couldn't WAIT to get our  happy little bundle into Great-Grandma's arms.  He's happy here for the pic but unfortunately he was a little cranky 'cause our front-loading on sleep to make a happy baby backfired.  (uuuugh!!)  Great-Grandma didn't seem to mind, huh?

Here's Alden with his Grandma (Omo) and her brother Jack, and cousin Nan, it was a treat to see them love on our baby.

Here's the birthday girl and her (latest) great-grandchildren.

And again, these babies by themselves.  Cassidy is 9 mo and about 6oz-1lb heavier than my little boy.  Maddox, is 3 weeks younger.  I had a blast chatting it up with their mommies and comparing notes.  Sorry for the dark picture, it was taken on my cell phone with all the parents hovering over the babies.  :-)

On Sunday we got to see Maddox get baptized at their church and celebrated afterwards.  Alden slept through the first part and I spent the rest of the time in the nursery with him.  We were so excited it worked out to celebrate both Maddox and Great-Grandma in one trip!!!

Here's Alden with his Grandpa (Opo), napping after church before we left for home.  I couldn't get Alden to sleep in his bed so Opo worked his baby sleeping magic... apparently so well it knocked him out too!!  :-)

15 weeks...almost

So I lost track of how many weeks old Alden is, and had to go back to the calendar.  It's such a simple thing, counting how many weeks out since he was born, but I still have an insecurity that maybe I did it wrong.  I don't know.  First time mom guilt.

Anyway, this is going to be a big week of meeting family for Alden.  He met my Aunt Maurie Anne this week when she came through and she loved on him while I was at school.  (THANK YOU!!)  Later this week we're going to take him up to PA to meet Greg's extended family (and immediate family!) for his grandma's 90th birthday.  Alden gets to meet his great-grandma!!    Greg's cousin has a little boy Alden's age and I'm super excited for the "cousins" to meet.  :-)  Hopefully she'll let me post a picture of them together for you to see.

Last week I discovered that I wanted a certain kind of high chair that was very expensive.  Of course.  I spent a few days on Craig's List and found it for 20% of the price of a new one.  SCORE!!  This transformer high chair is so cool, and Alden seems to like it too.  (I don't know, maybe he'd like any one, but I am super pleased with this and feel very proud of myself for finding it.)  I'm not sure when we'll start him on food (AVOCADOs, according to both of my mothers, independently of each other) but it's not yet.  I do love having him at this height to talk to while I make dinner.  He seems quite pleased to watch and talk back too.  Except when Daddy comes in and steals the show.  Then Alden has eyes for only him.  :-)

We've been working on tummy time as I've read that several of my friend's babies who are younger than Alden are turning themselves over.  Alden has done this once, but not again that I know of...  He's not a huge fan of tummy time so I'll take any advice I can get.  (He likes to be propped up, but then he can't turn over.)  Anyway, I tried today, but he doesn't sleep very well at day care so a few minutes later here he is...

Fast asleep on the carpet.

Which brings me to my next point... he's sleeping 12 hours at night!!! (Well, 2 nights in a row.)  Crazy.  I don't honestly like it because I barely get to see him.  I pick him up from day care at 4:30 and he's asleep by 6, 6:30 at the latest.  [[I used to be so surprised that my students stay up until 10, but I kinda understand it now because I want to spend time with Alden and kinda wanna keep him up to do it.  But rest assured, I don't.]]

And, here's a picture of our little one in 6 month clothes.  At 14 weeks.  (3 months, 2 weeks old.)  SIX MONTH CLOTHES!!!!  (I really wish baby clothes were done by weight, the 6 mo label on my 3 mo old makes me... I don't know... feel like something is wrong.)

We have a really pleasant kid and he's smiles mostly, but just so that we're sharing all sides of our experiences.... we do see this face too.  But really... he's still soooooo cute!!

Snow Day and Cloth Diapers

Well, we started!  I said I'd wait till 3 months and we have.  I figured a snow day would be a perfect opportunity to try them out.  I found that I really like them!  They look super cute on him and I like the way they feel against his tosh and even how they collect... what they're designed to do!  The only downside is that they are bigger than disposable diapers and so we now have to have 2 sizes out - 6 mo for when he's home and with my mom, 3 mo for day care and disposable diapers.  First world problems, though, right?  :-)

Also on our snow day we had a play-date with Bryn.  So precious!!  I hope that one day these two have as much fun as their mommies do!!

3 Months and Counting...

It's hard to believe that 3 months have gone by, now we can't imagine life without this little guy.  Life has taken on a new "normal" this month - I've gone back to work.  Alden now shares his time with his "Mimi" (my mom) and day care, Mrs. Blanca.  Both adore him and he smiles when he greets both.  I know he's in good hands and am grateful for a job that demands ALL of my attention so I don't have time to sit and think about kissing his oh-so-kissable cheeks.  :-)

Nate, my sister's boyfriend, stopped for a visit and we were so glad to catch up with him since he's moved away.  Alden loved him, especially when Nate fed him a bottle.  (Something Alden's Aunt has yet to do...but only because she's in Japan!)

Opo (Greg's dad) came for a visit too, and Alden enjoyed those cuddles too.  Unfortunately Alden was especially tired that day, so the cuddles were short-lived and bedtime came early.

Alden is enjoying bathtime a lot  more, thankfully, and I just missed capturing one of his adorable smiles in this picture.

Alden is holding his hands, which I hear is a developmental milestone... I can't wait for the next step when he notices his hands and stares at them with wonder...  :-)  (I put these together to be funny.  I sent it to the fam with the caption: The party is happening and these are the dance moves...)

Here are a few pictures from our 3 mo. baby shoot.  He is growing off the calendar!!  Not pictured is Boone, who kept wanting to get in front of the camera too.  :-)   Also - Alden is sticking tongue out a lot more.  He especially likes to feel cloth in his mouth.  (?)

Alden's "firsts" this month:
*slept through the night once, just in time for Valentine's day
*we decided that meant he's ready and are now sending Daddy in to comfort him back to sleep when he wakes up at night.
*goes to daycare full time and seems to enjoy it.
*was left with babysitters so Mommy and Daddy could get out for dinner and a movie.
*celebrated my birthday, came to visit me at school with Mimi and brought me a balloon.  He also met my kids this day as well as some of my co-teachers.  He took it all in stride.
*Alden facetimed with his great-grandma!!  (Greg's grandma.)
